I would go with #1. A lot of the time, kids from school won't show. We lol, missed the date to rent the covered area for my son's party last year. We ended up having someone go to the park a bit early a holding 2 picnic tables. LOL, they sat there for like 2 hours, those troopers. But it is a good thing they did because it was a sunny day and there were literally 5 or 6 other parties going on. Anyway. the tables were really for the food, cake, gifts etc. We brought a couple blankets for people to sit on and a pop up canopy for a little more shade. Plus it helped that we had our tables under a big tree. I did cupcakes and ice cream cups to make it easy for the kids to just sit in the grass. Sorry so long and good luck!
References :
Mom of 7 yr old boy and 8 month girl

Vote: Which one is better?
for my son's bday party at a park, we missed the date to rent one of the pavilions so these are our options

Park 1

The Good
-has like 6 playgrounds all in the same spot, in a big circle which is good because like 30 kids are 4 and under and they could play in the little kids playground area and the 5 older kids could play at the big kids playground area and also all the playgrounds are covered, swings for babies and kids
The Bad
-not a lot of space, there will be 35 kids and about 50 adults-- since we can't rent the pavilion the only other thing we can do is use the picnic tables but there are only 3 per area, though we could bring like lawnchairs and a table
-the other bad thing is the possibility of the people who did rent the pavilion being there the same time we are and the pavilion is right in the front from where you park so when people get there they may think that that is the party (we don't personally know all the people yet, they go to school with my son)

Park 2
The Good
-there is a gazebo right there where you park and there are tables in there, though I am not sure how many
-it is covered vs. just some picnic tables out in the heat and sun
The Bad
-only one playground area that is not covered and it's definately not big but not small either, no swings

Thank you very much in advance, I'm having a hard time deciding so I guess I am trying to take a vote
